Brunel's
Micro-site
The Brief
Brunel University London required a new, dynamic microsite that reflected its core mission: to provide a clear and compelling pathway for prospective students to sign up for online postgraduate degrees. The goal was to move from an initial concept to a fully-fledged platform for student recruitment.
As a collaboration between Brunel University London and FutureLearn, the microsite has the backing of a respected academic institution and a leading online learning platform, ensuring the courses offered are credible and in-demand.
Challenge
In addition to Brunel's own identity, we also needed to be sympathetic to the brand guidelines of FutureLearn and incorporate their key colors and logos into the website.
The team needed to position the microsite as a service-focused platform that specializes in breaking down barriers to postgraduate education, empowering learners to advance their careers with high-quality online degrees.
Future-Proofing
The world of online education is constantly evolving. We ensured that the front end of the microsite integrated seamlessly with the back-end learning platform, allowing for a smooth and intuitive journey for new learners, from enquiry and course discovery to enrollment.

Accessible & Quality Learning
We created a platform we are proud of: a microsite that takes the best of online education, backed by a leading academic university, with a unique, service-driven advantage focused on providing a clear path to a postgraduate degree.
Intuitive Design & Functionality
Brunel's microsite had to be user-friendly and engaging, without compromising the detailed information prospective students need.
Key features included an intuitive course directory, clear information on postgraduate programs and upcoming webinars, straightforward application processes, and seamless integration with the FutureLearn platform to provide a smooth user experience from start to finish.
User-Centric Design
Given the diverse audience for Brunel's online degrees—from recent graduates to experienced professionals—we could not create a single user journey.
To address this, we designed two distinct user pathways: one for prospective students who have a specific degree in mind, leading them directly to the course directory and application portal. The other path is for individuals still exploring their options, guiding them toward informational webinars and resources to help them choose the right program for their career goals.
